OSAKA, Japan, March 6, 2025 - ƵIndustries, Ltd. announced that it has been selected for the second consecutive year for "Innovation Momentum 2025: The Global Top 100," an award that identifies 100 leading companies driving innovation globally, based on patent data analysis. Launched in 2022 by LexisNexis Intellectual Property Solutions (headquarters: U.S.), a leading global provider of information and analytics, identifies the momentum of companies' technological advancements. This year marks the fourth annual edition of the award, and Daikin's selection for the second time highlights its commitment to innovative growth.
Innovation Momentum 2025: The Global Top 100 analyzes the patent data held by companies to assess and highlight their momentum and evolution in technological developments over the past two years. Using LexisNexis' patent evaluation metrics, the analysis evaluates the value of patent portfolios based on factors such as the total number of citations and the market size protected by patents. This year, only five Japanese companies were selected, with Ƶbeing noted in last years report for its emphasis on sustainability and its prominence in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (HVAC&R) innovations.
As an HVAC&R manufacturer with global business operations, Ƶallows the use of some of its patents by other companies to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases for the industry overall. For example, in 2011, Ƶgranted emerging countries free access to 93 patents related to air conditioning equipment utilizing refrigerant HFC-32 (R32), a refrigerant with low global warming potential (GWP), and it expanded access worldwide to all countries in 2015. Moreover, in 2019, Ƶexpanded the scope of patents and pledged the non-assertion of those patents to support conversion to refrigerants with high energy savings and low GWP. Furthermore, the technical and intellectual property departments at Ƶwork closely together from the early stages of technological development to build a portfolio that protects the business. We believe that these efforts have led to high evaluations from external entities, such as the recognition received this time.
Ƶis working to strengthen R&D on a global scale to achieve the growth strategies in its strategic management plan Fusion 25: Challenge to Achieve Carbon Neutrality, Promotion of Solutions Business Connected with Customers, and Creation of Value with Air. In addition to the acquisition of intellectual property rights and prevention of infringement of other companies intellectual property rights, Ƶwill continue to contribute to its business through the creation of intellectual properties through partnerships with the industry and academia, and establishing a network of other companies and researchers through the granting of free access to its patented technologies.
